In the years after it was painted, this work remained in the artist's possession and was inherited by his daughter Elizabeth Banks. It hung in the entrance hall of her cottage in Fisherton de la Mere, as her son Desmond Banks has recalled (conversation with Luke Farey, 24 March 2026).
