Paul Nash watercolour sells for record price

London

Earlier this week, the world record price for a Paul Nash watercolour was achieved in the London salesrooms.

Paul Nash's A Drawing (1913) sold for £212,500 at Bonhams' Modern British and Irish Art evening auction.

Piano Nobile is showing a very similar work by Paul Nash in our Paul Nash: Watercolours 1910-1946 exhibition. Called The Garden at Wood Lane House, Iver Heath from 1912, the painting is available for purchase. This watercolour is from early on in Nash's career, and bears the influence of William Blake, Samuel Palmer and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, significant inspirations in Nash's pre-war work. The Garden at Wood Lave House, Iver Heath depicts the garden of Nash's childhood home, Wood Lane House in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, where Nash created many of his youthful Romantic landscapes.

The exhibition closes on Saturday 22nd November.
