The painter Adam Birtwistle has long been preoccupied with his Composer Series.The latest in a line of many works of composers is Shostakovich. Produced to mark the Brodsky Quartet’s Shostakovich Quartet Cycle at Kings Place to celebrate their 40th anniversary. The painting is hung in the foyer of the Concert Hall. Other works in this series include Benjamin Britten and Leos Janacek, and together with studies of Sir David Hockney and Sir Peter Blake, can be viewed in the Balcony Gallery alongside the upper level of the auditorium (please ask at Kings Place Gallery for access).
